Challenges and perspectives on consolidation of Graduation Program in Design at UFMA: a look at the last quadrennium

Resumo: This paper contextualizes the Graduate Program in Design at the Feder-al University of Maranhão (PPGDg-UFMA) in the city of São Luís, Maranhão, and presents, in a historical perspective, the changes around the lines of research in line with the faculty and the impacts on student education, encompassing the description of the quadrennium activities between 2017 and 2020. Institutional initiatives and actions for its maintenance and qualification as a graduate program are discussed, following the new CAPES guidelines. From the partnerships at the local and national level, over the years, a vision and positioning of a program that impacts socially and culturally its surroundings emerges and, through the strengthening of the teaching, research and extension tripod, it is articulated in favor of sustainable and interdisciplinary ways of doing and thinking about design at the graduate level. Finally, it brings the debate on the implications and challenges for the qualification and consolidation of a program located in the Legal Amazon, considering the regional, historical and technological characteristics.

Se discuten iniciativas y acciones institucionales para su mantenimiento y calificación como programa de posgrado, siguiendo los nuevos lineamientos de la CAPES. De las alianzas a nivel local y nacional, a lo largo de los años, surge una visión y posicionamiento de un programa que impacta social y culturalmente, su entorno y, a través del fortalecimiento del trípode de docencia, investigación y extensión, se articula a favor de Formas sostenibles e interdisciplinarias de hacer y pensar sobre el diseño a nivel de posgrado. Finalmente, trae el debate sobre las implicaciones y desafíos para la consolidación de un programa ubicado en la Amazonía Legal, considerando las características regionales, históricas y tecnológicas.Este artigo contextualiza o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Design da Universidade Federal do Maranhão (PPGDg-UFMA) na cidade de São Luís, Maranhão, e apresenta, em perspectiva histórica, as modificações entorno das linhas de pesquisa em consonância com o corpo docente e os impactos na formação discente, englobando a descrição das atividades do quadriênio entre 2017 a 2020. Elencam-se as iniciativas e ações institucionais para sua manutenção e qualificação como programa de pós-graduação, seguindo as novas diretrizes da CAPES. A partir das parcerias em nível local e nacional, ao longo dos anos, surge uma visão e posicionamento de um programa que impacta social e culturalmente o seu entorno e, por meio do fortalecimento do tripé ensino, pesquisa e extensão, articula-se em prol de formas sustentáveis e interdisciplinares de se fazer e pensar design em nível de pós graduação.
