Modernism in Bauhaus: when art is not only contemplation

Resumo: The article proposes a literature review on the perspective of education in the Bauhaus school of modern design, a period that extends between 1919 and 1933 in Germany. Based on previously published state-of-the-art, the article analyzes the bibliographic production from two angles: publications that enunciate the relationship between industrial design and modernism as an aesthetic and political movement, publications that talk about the Bauhaus relationship with expectations and processes of change Social. In the course of the history of art and design, the authors seek to point out aspects that are common to the set of analyzes already produced on the subject, the gaps that have remained and the diversity of theoretical-methodological approaches on which they have relied. The article concludes by analyzing the influence of social and historical conditions on the formation of the Bauhaus.

Partiendo de los estados del arte ya publicados, este artículo analiza la producción bibliográfica a partir de dos ángulos: las publicaciones que enuncian la relación del diseño industrial con el modernismo como movimiento estético y político, y las publicaciones que dialogan al respecto de la relación de Bauhaus con las expectativas y los procesos de cambio social. A lo largo de la historia del arte y del diseño, los autores pretenden señalar aspectos en común con el conjunto de análisis ya realizados sobre el tema, así como los vacíos que han quedado y la diversidad de enfoques teóricos y metodológicos en los que se apoyan. Para concluir, el artículo analiza la influencia de las condiciones sociales e históricas en la trayectoria de formación de Bauhaus.O artigo propõe uma revisão bibliográfica sobre a perspectiva de educação na escola de design moderno Bauhaus, período que se estende entre 1919 e 1933 na Alemanha. Baseando-se em estados da arte já publicados, o artigo analisa a produção bibliográfica sob dois ângulos: publicações que enunciam a relação do design industrial com o modernismo enquanto movimento estético e político, publicações que falam da relação da Bauhaus com expectativas e processos de mudança social. No percurso da história da arte e do design, os autores procuram indicar aspectos comuns ao conjunto de análises já produzidas sobre o tema, as lacunas que vêm permanecendo e a diversidade de enfoques teórico-metodológicos sobre os quais têm se apoiado.
