Evaluation of Evolutionary Algorithms for humanized and homeodynamic hospital projects

Resumo: The architectural configurations of healthcare environments, including articulation with external spaces, natural elements and environmental variables, directly impact the biological homeostasis of nursing teams. In addition to construction criteria, the personal preferences of indoor occupants have been increasingly met by the use of evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithms. Through a literature systematic review, the intention was to reach the state of the art regarding the use of this technology to improve hospital spaces, especially considering the architectural preferences of nurses. To this end, this work was based on the transdisciplinary cooperation proposed by the Homeodynamic Environments and Products concept, which aim to restore and maintain the users’ health. The results obtained cover eleven works that sought to optimize hospital facades and floor plans. From this results it was possible to identify the integration of nurses’ preferences in archictetural design of hospital environments as a significant research gap. Together with evolutionary algorithms, these design variables represent a significant advance in the creation of homeodynamic and humanized hospital environments.

Además de los criterios de construcción, las preferencias personales de los ocupantes de interiores se satisfacen cada vez más mediante el uso de algoritmos evolutivos de optimización multiobjetivo. A través de una revisión sistemática de la literatura, se pretendió adquirir el estado del arte sobre el uso de esta tecnología para mejorar los espacios hospitalarios, especialmente considerando las preferencias arquitectónicas de los enfermeros. Este trabajo se basó en la cooperación transdisciplinaria propuesta por el concepto de Ambientes y Productos Homeodinámicos, que tienen como objetivo restaurar y mantener la salud de los usuarios. Mediante los resultados – once trabajos que buscaban optimizar las fachadas y los planos de los hospitales – se identificó la integración de las preferencias de las enfermeras en el diseño de entornos hospitalarios como un importante vacío de investigación. Con algoritmos evolutivos, estas variables de diseño representan un avance significativo en la creación de entornos hospitalarios humanizados y homeodinámicos.As configurações arquitetônicas dos ambientes de cuidados à saúde, incluindo a articulação com espaços externos, elementos naturais e as variáveis ambientais, impactam diretamente a homeostase biológica de equipes de enfermagem. Além de critérios construtivos, as preferências pessoais de ocupantes de ambientes internos têm sido cada vez mais atendidas pela utilização dos algoritmos evolutivos de otimização multiobjetivo. Por meio da revisão sistemática da literatura, intencionou-se adquirir o estado da arte acerca da utilização dessa tecnologia para a melhoria de espaços hospitalares, considerando sobretudo as preferências arquitetônicas de enfermeiros. Para tanto, este trabalho se baseou nas cooperações transdisciplinares propostas pelo conceito de Ambientes e Produtos Homeodinâmicos, que visam restaurar e manter a saúde dos usuários. Por meio dos resultados – onze trabalhos que buscaram otimizar fachadas e plantas-baixas hospitalares – a integração das preferências de enfermeiros ao projeto de ambientes hospitalares foi identificada como uma significativa lacuna de pesquisa.
