Resumo: The aim of this research was to address the influence of users’ gender on the perception of their own wheelchair. As study products, the two standard models of the wheelchair with mechanical and manual propulsion (with rigid structure and with folding structure) were considered. This research had the participation of 52 users (26 female and 26 male) equally distributed by gender in both types of wheelchairs. To measure the perception, the Semantic Differential was used. The results showed that, in both types of wheelchairs, women perceived the product more negatively than men. The above shows the importance of considering the subjective factors related to the user’s gender in the design process of Assistive Technology products.

Universidade Anhambi Murumbi2022-10-24info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://datjournal.anhembi.br/dat/article/view/64310.29147/datjournal.v7i3.643DAT Journal; Vol. 7 No. 3 (2022): Design, Art and Technology + Jewelry Design Dossier ; 18-28DAT Journal; Vol. 7 Núm. 3 (2022): Design, Arte y Tecnología + Dossier De Diseño de Joyas; 18-28DAT Journal; v. 7 n. 3 (2022): Design, Arte E Tecnologia + Dossiê Design de Joias ; 18-282526-178910.29147/datjournal.v7i3reponame:DATJournalinstname:Universidade Anhembi Morumbi (ANHEMBI)instacron:ANHEMBIporhttps://datjournal.anhembi.br/dat/article/view/643/447https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessRojas Anaya, Jose David García González, Areli 2022-10-24T18:08:34Zoai:ojs.datjournal.anhembi.br:article/643Revistahttps://datjournal.anhembi.br/datPUBhttps://datjournal.anhembi.br/dat/oai||ppgdesign@anhembi.br2526-17892526-1789opendoar:2022-10-24T18:08:34DATJournal - Universidade Anhembi Morumbi (ANHEMBI)false
