“Verses written on the water”: a watercolor from Rafael Alberti to Manuel Bandeira

Resumo: The article aims to reflect on the poetic interchanges between Rafael Alberti and Manuel Bandeira from a watercolor with which the Spaniard paid homage to the Brazilian. The first pages of the volume A la Pintura (1948) de Alberti, which is in Bandeira’s personal library, brings an image whose contours resemble the figure of a troubadour. Carrying an instrument, the silhouette in pastel tones can be seen among lines that are similar to an Ibero-American cartography. Considering these and other suggestions of the image, we investigate possible aspects their poetics may have in common and the nature of the dialogue established between the two artists.

Las primeras páginas del volumen A la pintura (1948) de Alberti que se encuentra en la biblioteca personal de Bandeira estampan una imagen de contornos que recuerdan la figura de un trovador o juglar. Cargando un instrumento de cuerdas, la imagen en tonos pasteles se ve entre trazos que se asemejan a una cartografía iberoamericana. A partir de esas y de otras sugerencias de la imagen, se investigan las aproximaciones entre poéticas y la naturaleza del diálogo establecido entre los dos artistas.Neste artigo, busco refletir sobre as interlocuções poéticas entre Rafael Alberti e Manuel Bandeira a partir de uma aquarela com a qual o espanhol homenageou o brasileiro. As primeiras páginas do volume A la pintura (1948), de Alberti e que se encontra na biblioteca pessoal de Bandeira, estampam uma imagem cujos contornos lembram a figura de um trovador ou de um jogral. Portando um instrumento de cordas, a silhueta em tons pastéis se divisa entre traços que insinuam uma cartografia ibero-americana.
