Resumo: | Orpheu, the first and most relevant magazine of the Portuguese modernist movement, was intended to be a Luso-brazilian publication: it was designed in Brazil, it had a Brazilian co-director and it should have been sold in Brazil. Nevertheless, in each of the two printed issues there was only one Brazilian collaborator (in the third issue, printed but never distributed, there was none), and neither was known for a particular modernist vigor. Orpheu could not provide a big contribution to the “tightening” of Portuguese and Brazilian intellectuals, as Fernando Pessoa had claimed. But it was and it is still of great symbolic importance that the two foreign collaborators were Brazilians, and the projects’ “first seeds” were launched in Brazil. |

Pero en cada uno de sus dos números solo colaboró un poeta brasileño (en el tercero – que, impreso, no llegó al público – no colaboraba ninguno); y los dos colaboradores no se distinguían por su energía modernista. Así Orpheu no ha podido contribuir mucho a la “unión de inteligencias” portuguesas y brasileñas que Fernando Pessoa reclamaba; pero tuve y tendrá importancia simbólica el hecho que en Brasil fué lanzada su “primera simiente” y que fueran brasileños sus dos colaboradores extranjeros.Orpheu, a primeira e mais relevante revista do modernismo português, pretendia ser uma publicação luso-brasileira: fora projetada no Brasil, tinha um codiretor brasileiro e devia ser vendida também no Brasil. Todavia, cada um dos seus dois números só teve um colaborador brasileiro (no terceiro que, impresso, não chegou a circular, não havia nenhum); e os dois colaboradores não se distinguiam por grande pujança modernista.
