Resumo: This paper analyzes a feature article from one of the best-known specialized publications for educators: Nova Escola magazine. The main objective is to analyze how teachers' actions are represented in this text, considering a perspective of teaching as a complex work, pervaded by conflicts, prescriptions and coercions (BRONCKART, 2006; MACHADO, 2004; AMIGUES, 2004; BUENO; 2007; BUTTLER, 2009). Thus, the textual-discursive analysis employed has as base the Socio-Discursive Interactionism postulates (BRONCKART, 2004, 2006a, 2006b, 2008), which attribute to language a central role in the study of the representations and evaluations related to the teaching work, inside and outside the educational sphere. In general, the results indicate that teachers, in this feature article, are predominantly represented as professionals disentailed from the conflicts and prescriptions that pervade their métier, whose individual initiatives – centered in the search for courses, qualifications and support materials – would be enough to guarantee the success of their work.
