Resumo: News parodies, a traditional manifestation of humor in journalism, have become very popular on social networks, and can be confused with the so-called fake news. Seeking a way to distinguish between these two manifestations, we start from the analysis of historical examples of parodies published in the alternative newspaper O Pasquim in the 1970s and recent examples of parodies published on the humor website O Sensacionalista between 2018 and 2020, to identify elements of which we propose to classify as connotative journalism, a journalism that is not intended for a literal reading and criticizes, through humor, the procedures of journalism itself.
