Betweem the revolutionary purpose and the means of struggle: anarcho-communism and revolutionary syndicalism in the newspaper A Terra Livre (1905-1910)

Resumo: This article aims to analyze the trajectory of the newspaper A Terra Livre and its relationship with anarcho-communism and revolutionary syndicalism. Critically to the interpretation produced by the Brazilian historiography of the 1980s, which placed A Terra Livre as an anarcho-syndicalist newspaper and which contrasted La Battaglia conceptions, seen as anarcho-communist and contrary to the union struggle, we seek to demonstrate that the newspaper had a very close relationship with anarcho-communist principles, as it appears in the works of Piotr Kropotkin, Errico Malatesta and Élisée Reclus, and that the position in favor of union struggles held by its editors was not anarcho-syndicalist, but an organizational anarchist conception of revolutionary syndicalism.

Críticamente a la interpretación producida por la historiografía brasileña de la década de 1980, que ubicaba a A Terra Livre como un periódico anarcosindicalista y que contrastaba las concepciones de La Battaglia, visto como anarcocomunista y contraria a la lucha sindical, buscamos demostrar que el periódico tenía una relación muy estrecha con los principios anarcocomunistas, tal como aparece en las obras de Piot Kropotkin, Errico Malatesta y Élisée Reclus, y que la posición a favor de las luchas sindicales sostenida por sus editores no era anarcosindicalista, sino una concepción anarquista organizativa del sindicalismo revolucionario. Cet article vise à analyser la trajectoire du journal A Terra Livre et ses rapports avec l'anarcho-communisme et le syndicalisme révolutionnaire. De manière critique à l'interprétation produite par l'historiographie brésilienne des années 1980, qui plaçait A Terra Livre comme un journal anarcho-syndicaliste et qui s'opposait aux conceptions de La Battaglia, perçue comme anarcho-communiste et contraire à la lutte syndicale, nous cherchons à démontrer que le journal avait une relation très étroite avec les principes anarcho-communistes, tel qu'il apparaît dans les travaux de Kropotkine, Malatesta et Reclus, et que la position en faveur des luttes syndicales tenue par ses éditeurs n'était pas anarcho-syndicaliste, mais une conception organisationnelle anarchiste du syndicalisme révolutionnaire. O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar a trajetória do jornal A Terra Livre e a sua relação com o anarco-comunismo e o sindicalismo revolucionário.
