Resumo: Abstract:This paper presents a brief overview of the emergence of biosafety showing the attention this topic has been receiving on the national and intemational leveI due to the development of research in the field and once it has come to the attention of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). On its tum, the CBD recommends that an Intemational Biosafety Protocol be implemented. This paper also seeks to present the legal treatment biosafety has received in Brazil, the makeup of regulations and the modus operandi of the National Technical Commission on Biosafety (CTNBio)

Esta, por sua vez, recomenda a implementação de um Protocolo Internacional em Biossegurança.
