Education Mediated by Technologies and Social Distancing: Teaching Experience in Basic Education

Resumo:  This article aimed at outlining an overview of the current educational moment, reflecting on the pedagogical actions developed by formal institutions of basic education, highlighting the need of differentiating the modalities of Distance Learning and Education Mediated by Technologies. The study was conducted based on the assumptions of qualitative research, without neglecting quantitative data, interpreted according to a context. 84 teachers of basic education from the municipalities of Salvador and Simões Filho in Bahia participated in the study voluntarily and anonymously. Data collection took place in two stages: April and September 2020, through the application of a questionnaire available on a virtual platform. In the paper`s discussion, the concept, history and specificities of distance learning as a modality were briefly resumed; as well as the difference between distance learning and education mediated by technologies, besides knowing and understanding the pedagogical strategies adopted in the face of the uncertainty caused by the pandemic. The data produced with this study emphasize that we are living in a moment when digital technologies are being massively introduced into primary education. On the other hand, there are still challenges that reflect peculiar situations, related mainly to the difficulty of handling a new ongoing reality. Aside from the discussion on Distance Learning and Education Mediated by Technologies, we noticed the urge of improving possible interventional and remedial proposals for the emerging issues, foreseeing some questions and gaps based on the research initiated here and promoting a policy- making perspective of designing serious public policies in the area of education.   Keywords: Social distancing. Basic education.O presente artigo buscou delinear um panorama do momento educacional atual, refletindo acerca das ações pedagógicas desenvolvidas por instituições formais de educação básica, destacando a necessidade de se diferenciar a modalidade da Educação a Distância e a Educação Mediada por Tecnologias. O estudo foi encaminhado com base nos pressupostos da pesquisa qualitativa, sem desprezar dados quantitativos, interpretados à luz de um contexto. Participaram deste estudo 84 professores da educação básica dos municípios baianos de Salvador e Simões Filho, de forma voluntária e anônima. A coleta de dados ocorreu em duas etapas: abril e setembro de 2020, através de aplicação de questionário disponibilizado em plataforma virtual. Na estrutura do artigo, foi retomado brevemente o conceito e as especificidades da EaD como modalidade de ensino; a distinção entre EaD e Educação Mediada por Tecnologias, além de conhecer e entender as estratégias pedagógicas adotadas ante o movimento de incerteza provocado pela pandemia. Os dados produzidos com o estudo evidenciam que vivemos um momento em que as tecnologias digitais estão sendo inseridas no ensino fundamental de maneira maciça. Em contrapartida, ainda se apresentam desafios que refletem situações peculiares, relacionadas, sobretudo, à dificuldade para lidar com esta nova realidade que se processa. Para além da discussão em torno da Educação a Distância e do Ensino Mediado por Tecnologias, notamos a necessidade de aperfeiçoar eventuais propostas interventivas e resolutivas das problemáticas emergentes, prenunciando alguns questionamentos e lacunas a partir da investigação aqui iniciada e favorecendo uma perspectiva de formulação de políticas públicas sérias na área da educação.
