Why can´t we do as Korea did?

Resumo: | Korea has become the source of inspiration to all countries which want to improve their education. In fact, its radical transformation is a well-known success story. From a country devastated by wars and stuck in its education, it is now in the leading edge in coverage and quality of its education. And economic development followed these advances. All this is correct. But can other nations reproduce it? As China and Japan, Korea is a country with several millennia of civilization. Its achievements range from public administration, higher education and technological innovations. Perusing the list of its advances, it seems that we can learn something. But our culture (or lack of it) is particularly different. Countries such as Brazil would not be able to successfully copy much of what Koreans did. |

Countries such as Brazil would not be able to successfully copy much of what Koreans did.Corea se transformo en un farol que iluminaria la trayectoria de los paises que tratan de desarrollar su educacion. Es un caso clasico de transformacion radical. De un pais devastado por guerras y mediocre en su educacion, se convierte en lider mundial en la cobertura y la calidad de su enseñanza. Y junto con ello se origina el desarrollo economico. Todo esto es verdad. Pero, ¿se trata de un modelo copiable? Asi como China y Japon, Corea es una civilizacion avanzada desde mucho tiempo atras, con exitos impresionantes en administracion pública, educacion superior e innovaciones tecnologicas. Solo recordar esas hazañas ya nos sugiere que podemos aprender algo, pero hay que tener en cuenta que nuestra cultura (o incultura) es muy diferente. No es el mejor modelo para nosotros.A Coreia virou o farol que iluminaria a trajetoria de todas as nacoes que querem avancar a sua educação. E um caso rematado de transformação radical. De pais devastado pela guerra e educacionalmente estagnado, passa a liderar o globo na cobertura e qualidade da sua educação. E junto vem o desenvolvimento econômico. Isso tudo e verdade. Mas e copiavel? Como a China e o Japao, trata-se de uma civilização milenarmente avancada, com realizacoes expressivas na administração pública, Educação Superior e inovacoes tecnologicas. So a lista dessas proezas ja sugere que podemos aprender algo, mas nossa cultura (ou incultura) e profundamente distinta.
