AGRIBUSINESS And Environmental Education: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Resumo: | Since 2001, Associação Brasileira do Agronegocio (ABAG)- Brazilian Agrobusiness Association - has started to spread agrobusiness by an environmental education program called “Agrobusiness at school”, developed by public educational system in various districts in Sao Paulo state, Brazil. This article discusses the starting of environmental education projects by private organizations in public schools and the implications of business strategies for the school system. This investigation is translated into a case study that considers ABAG as one of the business entities developing educational programs in public schools. The argumentation supported by this work is that public schools and environmental education, by means of business projects, are used as space and instrument of diffusion of a new sociability of rural patronage and of sustainable development ideology. This article concludes that it is possible to identify that the program provides essential elements for the qualification of public schools: teacher´s formation, pedagogical material and educational projects. Nevertheless, the insertion of a program organized by a private entity takes out the possibility of public character of schools, as learning promoted in that space is mediated by market interests. |

En este artículo, se discuten, a partir de la entrada de proyectos de educacion ambiental de organizaciones privadas en las escuelas públicas, las implicaciones en el area de las estrategias empresariales y de la comunidad escolar. La investigación resulto en un estudio de caso, cuyo recorte se justifica debido a que la ABAG se inserta en un conjunto de entidades empresariales que desarrollan programas educacionales en escuelas públicas. La argumentacion de este trabajo es que por medio de proyectos empresariales se usan las escuelas públicas y la educacion ambiental como espacio e instrumento de difusion de la nueva sociabilidad de patrones rurales y de la ideologia del desarrollo sustentable. El artículo concluye que es posible identificar que el programa garantiza elementos indispensables para la calidad de la escuela pública: formacion de profesores, material didactico y proyectos educacionales. Pero debido a que se trata de una entidad privada que organiza y respalda la insercion del programa, tal hecho retira la posibilidad de existencia del caracter público de la escuela, dado que la enseñanza promovida en este espacio pasa a ser mediada por intereses del mercado.Desde 2001, a Associação Brasileira do Agronegocio (ABAG) passou a difundir o agronegocio por meio do programa de educação ambiental “Agronegocio na escola”, desenvolvido na rede pública de ensino de diversos municipios do estado de Sao Paulo. Neste artigo, discutem-se, a partir da entrada de projetos de educação ambiental de organizacoes privadas nas escolas públicas, as implicacoes para as estrategias empresariais e para a comunidade escolar. A investigação se traduziu em um estudo de caso, cujo recorte se justifica à medida que a ABAG se insere em um conjunto de entidades empresariais que desenvolvem programas educacionais em escolas públicas. A argumentação sustentada neste trabalho e que as escolas públicas e a educação ambiental, por meio de projetos empresariais, sao utilizadas como espaco e instrumento de difusao da nova sociabilidade do patronato rural e da ideologia do desenvolvimento sustentavel. O artigo concluiu que e possivel identificar que o programa garante elementos indispensaveis à qualidade da escola pública: formação de professores, material didatico e projetos educacionais.
