Bullying and teacher training: contributions for a diagnosis

Resumo: This study analyzed the relation between theory and praxis among the curricula of 10 Public Universities, from two European countries, and the European Committee for Higher Education guidelines. These guidelines’ aim is to make universities offer training that properly addresses the European societies needs. Considering that bullying is a critical subject in schools, we decided to find if the word was even mentioned on a sample of about 1300 official syllabi. The results exposed an extensive absence of the term. The great majority of the documents we accessed showed no real adoption of the European recommendations regarding bullying and the praxis at pre-service teachers’ training programs. This study exposes the need to intensify coherence and strategy between 21st century important topics, educational policies and universities pre-service teachers’ training programs. Clearly, teachers need better training at the universities in order to be prepared to prevent, identify and deal with bullying in schools.

Clearly, teachers need better training at the universities in order to be prepared to prevent, identify and deal with bullying in schools.Este trabajo pretende investigar la relacion entre teoria y practica de los planes de estudio de 10 universidades públicas de la peninsula Iberica, bajo las directrices del Espacio Europeo de Educacion Superior; estas directrices pretenden garantizar una formacion ajustada a las necesidades reales de las sociedades europeas. Por tanto, esta investigación presenta los resultados de la búsqueda de la palabra bullying en los planes de estudio de las universidades estudiadas. Tras el analisis de los documentos, no encontramos la palabra bullying en la gran mayoria de los cerca de 1.300 programas a los que tuvimos acceso. Como resultado de ello, proponemos algunas conclusiones y reflexiones, en particular, en lo referente a la necesidad de cooperacion entre los temas candentes de la actualidad, las politicas públicas y las acciones de formacion de las universidades de ciencias de la educacion. Igualmente, en lo relativo a la preparacion de los futuros docentes para la prevencion y la lucha contra el acoso escolar.Este estudo propôs-se averiguar a relação entre teoria e práticas dentre os cursos de formação de docentes de 10 universidades públicas da Peninsula Iberica e as diretrizes do Espaco Europeu de Educação Superior que determinam que as Universidades assegurem uma formação ajustada às reais necessidades das sociedades europeias. Assim, esta pesquisa expoe os resultados da nossa busca pelo vocabulo bullying nas grades dos cursos de formação docente da nossa amostra. Apos analise documental, constatamos que a palavra bullying nem sequer aparece na grande maioria dos quase 1.300 programas de disciplinas a que tivemos acesso. Em resultado, propomos nas conclusoes deste estudo algumas reflexoes. Designadamente, a necessidade de uma concertação estrategica entre os temas candentes da atualidade, as politicas públicas e a ação das instituicoes universitarias de formação de docentes.
