WORKERS´ SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS ON ALCOHOLISM AND ITS CONSEQUENCES ON WORK

Current descriptive and qualitative research identified the workers´ social representations of the Cervejaria Paraense on alcoholic beverage and analyzes its implications on the workers´ health. Thirty workers directly employed in the manufacture of the alcoholic beverage were interviewed. The analysis of theme contents brought forth the following categories: alcoholic beverage and control on the (un)known; consumption, socialization and dependence of workers; knowledge and its consequences on the workers´ health. Results show that in the case of the above-mentioned workers, alcoholic beverage and work are directly related through their relationships within the social context. The latter may bring about moments of happiness, socialization but also risks for the workers´ health.
