Resumo: ABSTRACT: Current review of the literature underscores how physical exercise helps the subject with diabetes mellitus Type 1 and 2. DM is actually a world epidemic and several factors, such as obesity, sedentary lifestyle, unbalanced food, cardiovascular diseases, intolerance to glucose, resistance to insulin and others help in its development. Recent research proved that long and short duration aerobic and resisted exercises control glucose rates in the blood, decrease cardiovascular diseases and weight, improve sensitiveness to insulin and control glucose hemoglobin. Physical exercises help combat disease risks and provide the person with a better life quality.

Physical exercises help combat disease risks and provide the person with a better life quality.O objetivo desta revisão literária é ressaltar como o exercício físico pode ajudar no tratamento do indivíduo com diabetes mellitus tipo I e diabetes mellitus tipo II. Esta doença atualmente já se tornou uma epidemia mundial, onde vários fatores ajudam para o desenvolvimento do diabetes mellitus, como obesidade, sedentarismo, alimentação não equilibrada, doenças cardiovasculares, intolerância à glicose, resistência à insulina, dentre outros fatores. Pesquisas recentes comprovam que os exercícios aeróbicos e os exercícios resistidos, tanto os de curta duração como os de longa duração, ajudam no controle das taxas de glicose no sangue, redução de doenças cardiovasculares, diminuição de peso, melhoram a sensibilidade à insulina e atuam no controle da hemoglobina glicosada. Sendo assim, o exercício físico ajuda a combater riscos da doença e a proporcionar ao indivíduo uma melhor qualidade de vida.
