Resumo: Nursing professionals working in hospitals are exposed to several occupational risks that may lead to various labor accidents. Accidents may be frequently attributed to a lack in professional’s knowledge with regard to labor process and its correlation with health/disease processes. It may be triggered by a lack of preparation with regard to the causal agent of the disease and to the lack of information on possible occupational risks. Knowledge of professionals was verified with regard to the risks inherent to hospital attendance. Data were collected by a half-structured questionnaire with 21 open and closed questions. Thirty-seven nursing professionals came from a government hospital and 45 from a private one. Results showed only a general knowledge on occupational risks since most professionals of both institutions scored only half of the questioned. The professionals had a better knowledge on the use of protecting equipments. Since current analysis provoked an investigation on occupational risks to which nursing professionals are exposed, it contributed towards a wider discussion on activities for more proper conditions in the work environment and thus a better life quality for these professionals.

Universidade Cesumar - UniCesumar2012-05-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionAvaliado por Paresinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/article/view/2244Saúde e Pesquisa; Vol 5 No 2 (2012): maio/ago.Saúde e Pesquisa; v. 5 n. 2 (2012): maio/ago.2176-9206reponame:Saúde e Pesquisa (Online)instname:Cesumar Diretoria de Pesquisainstacron:CESUMARporhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/article/view/2244/1691de Carlo, Franciele SilviaCardoso, Valani HenriquesRamos, Edivan Rodrigo de Paulainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2020-09-04T20:49:47Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/2244Revistahttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesqPUBhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/oainaep@cesumar.br2176-92061983-1870opendoar:2020-09-04T20:49:47Saúde e Pesquisa (Online) - Cesumar Diretoria de Pesquisafalse
