Resumo: | Oncological wounds are caused by the infiltration of malignant cells in the epithelial tissue and a flaw in its integrity. These lesions occur in 5 to 10% of patients suffering from cancer. They may develop at the onset of the disease, as in skin cancer, or at the end, through metastases. Oncological lesions are a bad prognostic since they do not heal, require palliative care to lessen their symptoms, reduce complications and improve the life quality by prevention and a relief from the patient´s and family´s suffering. The health team, especially nurses, should be aware that specific care should be provided to people with tumor wounds and the need of products, materials and medicine for treatment. Current review of literature underscores the lack of scientific works on the subject matter and its contribution towards knowledge for better planning of activities for people with tumor lesions. Strategies should be implemented for professional qualification, improvement of care by the establishment of new practices and a higher satisfaction to patients and their families through the attendance of their needs. |
