Nursing care for oncological wounds: knowledge of resident nurses

Resumo: Objective: to describe the knowledge of nursing residents about assessment and nursing care for patients with oncological wounds. Method: this is a descriptive, cross-sectional, qualitative approach. The survey was carried out with 67 first and second year nursing residents. To obtain the data, a semi-structured electronic form was sent, composed of questions about social and cognitive aspects, previous experiences and specific knowledge about oncological wound care. difficulty in caring for a person with an oncological wound. Although some of these professionals sought training courses, most of them did not address the issue. Conclusion: the study highlighted the need to fill in the knowledge gaps of residents, who are between the role of students and professionals. Therefore, it is important that undergraduate courses, health institutions, recognize the importance of the theme and that they approach its development with their professionals and students to improve the quality of care for patients with oncological wounds.

Método: se trata de un abordaje descriptivo, transversal, cualitativo. La encuesta se realizó con 67 residentes de enfermería de primer y segundo año. Para la obtención de los datos se envió un formulario electrónico semiestructurado, compuesto por preguntas sobre aspectos sociales y cognitivos, experiencias previas y conocimientos específicos sobre el cuidado de la herida oncológica dificultad en el cuidado de una persona con herida oncológica. Aunque algunos de estos profesionales buscaron cursos de capacitación, la mayoría no abordó el tema. Conclusión: el estudio destacó la necesidad de llenar los vacíos de conocimiento de los residentes, que se encuentran entre el papel de estudiantes y profesionales. Por lo tanto, es importante que los cursos de graduación, las instituciones de salud, reconozcan la importancia del tema y aborden su desarrollo con sus profesionales y estudiantes para mejorar la calidad la atención a los pacientes con heridas oncológicas.Objetivo: descrever o conhecimento dos residentes de enfermagem sobre avaliação e o cuidado de enfermagem ao paciente com ferida oncológica. Método: trata-se de um estudo descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, de corte transversal. A pesquisa foi realizada com 67 residentes de enfermagem do primeiro e segundo ano. Para obtenção dos dados foi enviado formulário eletrônico semi-estruturado, composto por perguntas sobre aspectos sociais, cognitivos, experiências pregressas e conhecimentos específicos sobre cuidados com feridas oncológicas. Resultados: A maior parte dos residentes já cuidou de pacientes com feridas oncológicas e apontou insegurança e dificuldade em cuidar de uma pessoa com ferida oncológica. Apesar de parte desses profissionais terem procurado cursos para capacitação, estes, em sua maior parte, não abordavam a temática. Conclusão: o estudo evidenciou a necessidade do preenchimento das lacunas de conhecimento dos residentes, que se encontram entre o papel de estudantes e de profissionais.
