Resumo: The presence of Africans in the Argentina still is a subject of the discussion and continual elaboration. Denied, silenced and, at best, minimized within official discourses of the nation’s configuration, this absence was such that moved and rooted up in memory and collective imaginary of the Argentines. In the last few years appeared several academics studies motivated to claim the true history of the Africans and Afro-Argentines and the impact and importance that they had in the different historical processes in the country. Here we present an advance on the research carried out so far, which are part of the program of post-graduation in social memory and cultural heritage of UFPEL, which is based on the study of the African material heritage, as a tool of visibility and appreciation of the history of this population contextualizing the study area in the colonial city of San Miguel de Tucuman, located in the northwestern region of Argentina.
