This investigation aims to contribute to thinking about the theoretical-methodological conceptions of the South in a rupture with the epistemic dependence of the Global North, historically privileged and conductor of universal knowledge. The reflections are based on the evidence that the Social Sciences are facing a paradigm crisis, not being able to respond to the problems of differences, geopolitically constructed, that affect the world, especially Latin America, the object of this discussion. Therefore, it is necessary to think about other epistemologies, contextualized, renouncing the culture of theoretical importance, of the Global North, whose place of discourse is in the South's own. So, the following question is: why think and develop? research methodologies from (and to) Latin America? The analysis follows interdisciplinary paths, with a qualitative approach, combining theoretical reflection and horizontal dialogue between the South and North approaches (Aníbal Quijano, 2009, 2014; Edgardo Lander, 2005; Rita Segato, 2015; Walter Mignolo, 2005, 2007, 2010; Pierri Bourdieu, 2008; Clifford Geertz, 1989). The results indicate that the materialization of some key concepts, resulting from the experiences of theorists of the epistemologies of the sur and decolonial turn, such as "conscience ecology", "epistemic disobedience" and "demand anthropology", can be an alternative to develop situational, transformative methodologies, without the need for a radical rupture, with northern epistemologies, which are now being investigated in a horizontal dialogue with Latin American theories.
