Resumo: O 25 de março de 1884 foi a data da libertação dos escravos na Província do Ceará e que marcou uma nova fase do movimento abolicionista em Pernambuco. Este artigo busca analisar as repercussões de tal evento na província pernambucana e como seus agentes – escravos, senhores, abolicionistas e simpatizantes se mobilizaram em prol do fim da escravidão.The March 25 of 1884 was the date of the liberation of slaves in Ceará Province and marked a new phase of the abolitionist movement in Pernambuco. This paper analyzes the repercussions of such an event in the Pernambuco province and how its agents – slaves, masters, abolitionists and supporters mobilized towards the end of slavery .
