Summary: The March 25 of 1884 was the date of the liberation of slaves in Ceará Province and marked a new phase of the abolitionist movement in Pernambuco. This paper analyzes the repercussions of such an event in the Pernambuco province and how its agents – slaves, masters, abolitionists and supporters mobilized towards the end of slavery.
