Resumo: Inflates in Brazil political discussions on direct participation of citizens. Researches attributed meaning to events in order to understand the new contours of popular participation in politics. However, time shown that the change in protests surpassed interpreters, resulting forecast frustration. Indispensable the academy turn their eyes to the ways of political engagement and the necessary means to stimulate the resumption of the active role of those in public life. It is urgent to stimulate the civic culture of population , from educational institutions , promoting discourse gain between representatives and represented , and hence the future of representative democracy.

Pesquisas atribuíram sentido às manifestações, de forma a entender os novos contornos da participação popular na política. Entretanto, o tempo monstrou que a mudança nas manifestações superou os intérpretes, frustrando previsão de resultados. Indispensável à academia voltar seus olhos as formas de engajamento político dos cidadãos e dos meios necessários a estimular a retomada do papel ativo destes na vida pública.
