THE TEACHING OF HISTORY ABOUT THE FORMER PRESIDENT JOÃO GOULART: what it should be discussed in the classroom

Resumo: This article intends to address the importance of former President João Goulart for the history teaching through three approaches. The first one refers to the reflection on the abandonment of the figure João Goulart, its roots and consequences. The second one reflects on the crucial points that should be brought to reflection in the classroom regarding basic education, as the myth created around the president, and his ideas for reforms to Brazil. In addition, a third approach discusses current trends in society to bring out the figure of Jango.

A segunda abordagem reflete sobre os pontos cruciais que deveriam ser trazidos para reflexão em sala de aula no ensino básico, como o mito criado ao redor do presidente, além de suas ideias de reformas para o Brasil.
