Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brasil.Mycobacterium tuberculosis of the Bejing subtype (MtbB) is transmitted efficiently in high burden countries for this genotype. A higher virulence was associated with isolates of the “modern” Beijing genotype sub-lineages when compared to “ancient” ones.
