Associação entre condições socioeconômicas, ocorrência de complicações durante o trabalho de parto e a escolha da via de parto

Introduction: Recent studies bring important findings in relation to socioeconomic status and the route of delivery. In recent decades, the cesarean route of delivery has increased significantly and is considered a life-saving procedure, however, if done without the necessary indication, the tendency is to increase maternal mortality by up to three times. Objective: To verify the correlations between the social economical conditions of the pacient, the occurrence of obstetric labor complications and the childbirth method chosen. Method: this is a cross-sectional, analytical study. The inclusion criteria were women over 18 years old, primiparae or multiparae who experienced childbirth in the last 5 years. Exclusion criteria were: having performed both types of delivery, who did not accept the IC, and inconsistent responses. An adapted questionnaire was applied, available on the online digital platform (Google Forms). Categorical variables were presented by absolute (n) and relative (%) frequency. To verify the association, the chi-square test (X2) was performed. Results: 65 women participated in the study, aged (Standard deviation = 6.8). A significant association was found between the type of childbirth chosen (p = 0,02) and their respective income and between the type of childbirth and their level of schooling (p = 0,02). The choices were mainly based on the benefits of the regular partum and due to the insecurities, pain and the risk of fetal complications, all caused by the cesarean. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is an association between the mode of delivery and socioeconomic status.
