Objective: to identify if nursing students evaluate the sexuality of the elderly in primary care during the curricular stage. Method: a descriptive study using the Bardin Content Analysis technique, carried out with the students of the 10th period of nursing, through semi-structured interviews at the University Center of Serra Gaúcha, Caxias do Sul, RS. Results: The technique allowed the creation of three categories: the need for thematic sexuality in the training period; approaches on the subject sexuality with the elderly in the internships; and difficulties in addressing the issue of sexuality with the elderly. Conclusion: the students' knowledge and approach to the subject is limited, there is a need for greater attention to the sexuality of the elderly, both by the training institution and by the student himself.
