Resumo: | Canine parvovirus is an infectious disease of worldwide distribution, which clinically exhibits hemorrhagic gastroenteritis with high incidence and lethality. The etiological agent is called CPV-2, belonging to the genus Parvovirus of the family Parvoviridae. It can affect animals of any gender, age and breed. However, puppies aged between six weeks and six months are vulnerable, as there is a greater predisposition to the disease in males and certain breeds show more expressive clinical signs. It appears that the highest occurrence of cases of canine parvovirus occurs in the hottest months of the year. Regarding the clinical signs, there is sudden prostration, anorexia, drooling, fever, abdominal pain, vomiting and constant diarrhea. The presumptive diagnosis of parvovirus is based on the combination of history, clinical signs and blood tests. However, the definitive diagnosis requires the identification of the agent through specific tests, especially the IDEXX SNAP parvo antigen test and the Alere Parvovirus Ag Test Kit. Therapeutic resources are limited to the treatment of clinical signs and support for these animals, including hydroelectrolyte replacement, broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy and containment of vomiting. In addition, the most effective method of preventing parvovirus is the systematic vaccination of puppies. Considering this, a retrospective study was carried out and the results expressed through the article entitled "Canine parvovirus: study of 76 cases diagnosed between the period 2020-2021 in a veterinary clinic in Caxias do Sul", which evaluated the profile of affected animals and their relation with the vaccine protocol, therapeutic approaches and mortality rate in different seasons of the year in a veterinary clinic in Caxias do Sul, during the period from October 2020 to October 2021. It is concluded that the profile of animals affected by CPV-2 is correlated with the vaccine protocol, as well as clinical treatment becomes essential even if it does not ensure survival. |

Centro Universitário da Serra GaúchaBrasilDepartamento 1FSGSapin , Carolina da Fonsecahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1195228445760974Tonin, Rafael Gustavo2022-12-12T13:48:42Z2022-06-302022-12-12T13:48:42Z2022-06-15info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfhttps://repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br/handle/123456789/4200porinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubasinstname:Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)instacron:CUB2022-12-12T13:49:36Zoai:repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br:123456789/4200Repositório InstitucionalPUBhttps://repositorio.brazcubas.edu.br/oai/requestbibli@brazcubas.edu.bropendoar:2022-12-12T13:49:36Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubas - Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)false |
