Due to the historical housing deficit there has been in the last few years a significant growth in the construction sector in Brazil, which drove forward many other sectors, such as product suppliers and service providers. Municipal, state and federal governments increased substantially the financial resources available to the housing sector, both for borrowers and for companies. This enhancement was mostly made through a federal government project called “Minha Casa, Minha Vida”, which provides subsidies for the purchase of housing, generating an increase in supply and a consequent growth in demand due to the credit facilities that were provided. This initiative has generated great interest in projects of low income housing section and due to this expansion of the sector it has also created a need to organize, in a systematic way, all the elements that influence the civil construction sector. This study aims to evaluate the social, environmental and economic sustainability in the implementation of low income housing constructions. To this end, the diferent stages of the project and the execution of three low income housing were analyzed. Build on the use of a set of indicators adapted from Oliveira (2012), together with the LEED certification, AQUA and Selo Casa Azul. The result obtained in the three comparative studies featured a deficient social dimension compared to the environmental and economic dimensions. But because of the environmental legislation´s demand, some of the companies have taken care about the environment, and also the dynamic and competition of the market . And that is the reason why even with a value below 75% , the environmental and economical dimensions got highlighted. Finally, this study seeks to propose criterias for the evaluation of the low income housing and the creation of a guiding manual.
