Resumo: | According to previous studies, Brazil occupies ninth place in terms of preterm births worldwide, that condition not only results in an increase of complications during birth but also affects the post-birth period and the development of premature infants, causing prematurity to be one of the many challenges the Brazilian public health system has to endure. Furthermore, prematurity leads not only to high costs for the healthcare system but also increases morbidity and mortality for newborn infants and increases the coefficient of child mortality. The goals of this study were to analyze the most important maternal and pregnancy prematurity risk factors in a public maternity ward in Curitiba-PR and relate those with fetal outcomes. Epidemiological data from the pregnant women that gave birth to preterm infants and the data from the infants were collected by a retrospective analysis of medical records from July 2018 to July 2020, (n=206). When observing the main risk factors related to pregnant women, the main condition found was premature membrane rupture followed by pregnancy-induced hypertension. And as for the fetal risk factors, 56,8% of the newborn infants were male, and the leading post-birth complications were jaundice and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. The present study highlights the necessity to provide adequate assistance to pregnancy by knowing the clinical and epidemiological profile of the patients and assessing the main risk factors related to that specific population. All those measures help provide better assistance in public health practice. |

Universidade PositivoBrasilMedicinaUPReda, Somaiahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6083370387158355Pereira, Eduardo UtraboCol, Izabela Cristina Rios deArruda, Pedro Penha VirmondGorino, Rossana Soica2022-05-04T18:01:50Z20222022-05-04T18:01:50Z2021info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfhttps://repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br/handle/123456789/3678porinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubasinstname:Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)instacron:CUB2022-05-04T18:13:33Zoai:repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br:123456789/3678Repositório InstitucionalPUBhttps://repositorio.brazcubas.edu.br/oai/requestbibli@brazcubas.edu.bropendoar:2022-05-04T18:13:33Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubas - Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)false |
