Resumo: The Sepsis was defined like life-threatening organic dysfunction caused by different pathogens that lead to mitochondrial dysfunction, imbalance on function of the immune and endothelial system, inability to supply oxygen to tissues, excessive apoptosis and uncontrolled release of inflammatory mediators and reactive oxygen species, however, there are high mortality rates. Its therapy is established through a consensus that briefly includes the use of lactate clearance as a marker of severity and prognosis, volume resuscitation, use of vasotive therapy, use of empirical antibiotics, identification and removal of the infectious source. It's seeing the factors and the patient's cardiovascular, and systemic instability; the anesthetist's role is try to stabilize this situation for better anesthetic management to the time of the surgical procedure. Evidentely, we'll discuss on this literature review the definitions of sepsis, the therapy and the anesthetic management of septic patients.

Evidentely, we'll discuss on this literature review the definitions of sepsis, the therapy and the anesthetic management of septic patients.A sepse é definida como disfunção orgânica ameaçadora a vida causada por uma resposta inadequada e desregulada do organismo que leva a disfunção mitocondrial, desequilíbrio da função do sistema imunológico e endotelial, incapacidade de entregar oxigênio aos tecidos, apoptose excessiva e liberação descontrolada de mediadores inflamatórios e espécies reativas de oxigênio levando assim, há altas taxas de mortalidade. Sua terapia é estabelecida através de um consenso que resumidamente inclui o uso do clearance de lactato como um marcador de gravidade e prognóstico, ressuscitação volêmica, uso da terapia vasotiva, uso de antibióticos empíricos, identificação e retirada da fonte infecciosa. Levando em consideração esses fatores e a instabilidade cardiovascular e sistêmica do paciente o papel do anestesista é tentar estabilizar esse quadro para um melhor manejo anestésico no momento do procedimento cirúrgico.
