Resumo: | The ABO System antigens were initially identified by KARL, 1901, as erythrocyte substances. The first report of an association between blood group A and gastric cancer was described by AIRD, 1953. Since then, other studies have documented the relationship between cancer susceptibility and blood group. Objective: to clarify the possible influences of erythrocyte antigens in relation to the appearance of cancer in general. We sought to identify, analyze and synthesize results of independent studies on ABO blood groups and their relationship with cancer. Methodology: This is an integrative, descriptive literary review. Results: The association between various types of cancers and the blood typing of patients was observed. More than half a century has passed since the first report on the expression of the erythrocyte antigen related to the formation of malignant diseases. results were found as shown in the table. Half a century has passed since the first report on the possibility of the expression of erythrocyte antigen related to the formation of malignant diseases. It was identified that individuals with blood type A, were in the group with the highest risk of developing ovarian cancer is significantly higher for the same blood group. Conclusion: Bearing in mind that cancer is one of the pathologies that kills the most in the world, for the ABO system to be considered a marker, further research will be necessary. |
