Migration i sn’t a new concept. Ancient societies used to migrate i n search of food and shelter, as well as due to climatic changes. Nowadays, we still see migratory flows of people l ooking for better l ife conditions, but beyond that, there are situations that force some to l eave their home country and seek shelter somewhere else. Syria, Haiti and Venezuela are only some examples, on the current world stage, of what seeking refuge means. Furthermore, in a globalized world, the concept of the Stateless has arisen -- people who aren’t identified as belonging to a country. Amidst that, Brazil has shown i tself as quite active regarding migratory policies, implementing, in example, the immigration law i n 2017, as well as i nstitutes such as the statute of the refugees and the stateless, a more open and i nnovative stance when compared to other countries facing xenophobia and other challenges that prevent them from accomplishing their humanitarian duty. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for iprovement. This research will show the l egislative advancements that back the three groups up, as well as the challenges that have been faced to solidify themselves and what still needs to be done for a truly effective assistance to them. To this end, bibliographic method will be used, data made available by their respective bodies, such as the ACNUR, Conare and Cnig, so that a critical and scientific vision of the subject can be formed.
