Resumo: Justification and Objectives: In Brazil, it is the disease that kills the most, with about 420,000 new cases per year. The study aimed to present the clinical epidemiological and prognostic characteristics of sepsis in the city of Caxias do Sul, in a private hospital. Methods: retrospective cohort study. The data were collected through medical records in SAME from January to December 2018, using a collection form, set up for this research. The cohort of this study is formed by patients of both sexes, admitted for clinical or surgical treatment, aged over 18 years. Data analysis was performed using the Microsoft Office Excel program to calculate frequency, mean, and median of the investigated variables. Results: A total of 411 medical records were analyzed, 61 (14.8%) were included in the study. There was predominance of females (54%), and age greater than 70 years (26%). Regarding the hospitalization of the patients, the 8 most prevalent was sepsis (26.22%). Among the comorbidities found, there was a prevalence of hypertension (49.18%). The likely trigger for sepsis was pulmonary focus (47.54%). The predominant microorganism in infections was Staphylococcus in 19.6%. In this study, 43 (70.50%) of the patients evolved to death. The mean time of hospitalization was on average up to 10 days (49.18%). Conclusion: The study shows that sepsis was mostly related to the elderly female. There were still high death rates, perceiving the importance of training for the nursing team.

Biasio, Nicole Trevisol2022-03-28T19:39:04Z20192022-03-28T19:39:04Z2019-07-10info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfhttps://repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br/handle/123456789/3337porinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubasinstname:Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)instacron:CUB2022-03-28T19:40:07Zoai:repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br:123456789/3337Repositório InstitucionalPUBhttps://repositorio.brazcubas.edu.br/oai/requestbibli@brazcubas.edu.bropendoar:2022-03-28T19:40:07Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubas - Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)false
