Prostate cancer is the second most frequent neoplasy in men. Despite that, the screening still present several controversies in literature. The individualization of the screening is the point of agreement among the studies, which is based predominantly on the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test. This research was performed in the city of João Pessoa, on Paraíba. The objective was to describe the pattern of prostate cancer screenig between the Centro Universitário de João Pessoa – UNIPÊ Medicine student’s parents. A qualitative, analytical and descriptive character, cross-sectional and observational study was carried out, with delineation in field research and non-experimental. The data were obtained through the aplication of an electronic questionnaire elaborated by the researchers and avaliable on ―Google Forms‖ platform. The Informed Consent Form (ICF) was signed virtually by all the participants before completing the questionnaire, which was available on the platform of the electronic questionnaire. The sample was non-probabilistic for convenience, comprising 246 male volunteers, aged over 40. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. As complementary analysis the Cross Tabulation tool was used. It was verified that there is doubt by the population about the age at wich iniciate testing, having approximately equal proportions between the beginning age at 40, 45 and 50 years. It was found that 59.8% of the men believe that rectal digital examination is the most important test for screening. Most of the men use PSA with digital rectal examination annually. Finally, 70.7% were informed about the screening’s advantages and disadvantages. The prostate cancer screening pattern has demonstrated no clarity about how it should be done. There are divergences between the literature and the pattern of this practice, revealing that this subject should be further studied and discussed in later studies.
