Resumo: In the contemporary world, new technologies bring about substantial changes in the structure of economic sectors. In this context, hospitality is one of the sectors constantly impacted and among the several transformations coming from the new technologies, stands out the shared lodging. Shared hosting platforms come as a new option for hosting travelers. In addition to options for overnight stays, this new scenario changes consumption patterns and lifestyles, directly affecting the conventional hotel sector. Every night, thousands of tourists choose not to stay in a hotel, instead they pay to stay in a stranger's residence, making their reservations through the on-line shared hosting platforms. Given this reality, this thesis aimed to analyze how business models of conventional hotels have been reacting to the new models of shared hosting in Brazil. This research was theoretically supported by the following approaches: sociotechnical theory and shared economics. According to the objectives of the thesis, this research is applied, descriptive and exploratory, with a qualitative approach. As for the technical procedures, it is characterized as a multiple cases study. The analysis of the data, obtained through in-depth interviews, in addition to the information collected in the documentary analysis, was made through content analysis, drawing the parallel between the theoretical reference and the data collected. This research defends the thesis that the advent of shared hosting affects the conventional hotel sector in Brazil, in order to promote the process of sociotechnical transition in the sector. After the analysis, it was evidenced that the hotel sector is not adaptable to the new technology, considering that its main actors are stabilized in the current regime. In addition to the shared hosting initially being perceived with incomprehension, the sector seeks regulations for its operation in the country. The results showed that the innovation system of the sector is in the predevelopment phase of the transition. The empirical findings revealed that both the obstacles and drivers and the functions of the innovation system directly influence the trajectory of the socio-technical transition of the conventional hotel sector. The indicators that most cause obstacles to the development of the sector are: the characteristics of the company, the external factors and the lack of legislation. The functions that most impact the process are: the development of knowledge, the diffusion of knowledge through networks and the creation of legitimacy. Thus, shared hosting has promoted changes throughout the sociotechnical system of the hotel sector in Brazil. It is also emphasized that this thesis has demonstrated the importance of working with the approach of sociotechnical theory in studies related to tourism.
