Resumo: The NOTES (Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery) is characterized as a new concept that combines laparoscopic access with flexible endoscopy is a new surgical procedure, which avoids abdominal incisions, using different organs as a gateway to body cavities. Currently, the literature is lacking in studies reporting on the results of transand postoperative liver biopsies obtained transvaginal flexible NOTES in bitches, a condition that motivates the author to investigate this access. To this end, seven dogs were used. The experiment was divided into two stages. 1) a liver biopsy, 2) evaluation of laparoscopic abdominal conditions after biopsy (51 to 53 days after). The animals were placed in supine position, and submitted to colpotomy by conventional surgery, from the expression of the vagina through the vulva. Though vaginal incision was introduced a flexible endoscope 11mm with two working channels, which was used to obtain liver samples. The second phase consisted of the assessment of abdominal cavity and collection cavity of the uterus and ovaries by laparoscopy. The variables analyzed to verify the feasibility of the proposed biopsy were operative time, surgical complications, technical difficulties, the quality of material collected, the abdominal condition, the formation of vaginal adhesions and their characteristics, the condition of abdominal scar, the metabolic liver (whereas ALT, ALP, GGT and albumin) and the histological condition of the uterus and ovaries. It was observed that the NOTES access to the abdominal cavity by vagina allowed to collect sufficient sample ao alterations liver diagnosis, with or few change trans or post-operative. In conclusion, the liver biopsy by transvaginal flexible NOTES is feasible in dogs.

In conclusion, the liver biopsy by transvaginal flexible NOTES is feasible in dogs.
