Resumo: The chemical dependence treatment is a challenge for public health , between the difficulties faced in this context, adherence to treatment has had relevance in the studies, reveling several associated factors, such as, negative emotional state, and difficulty of tolerating frustrations, psychopathological comorbidities, and absence of social and familiar support, among others. The objective of this study was to identify the standard of the chemical substances consumption, to verify social support perception, identify the depressive disorder and evaluate the access to the chemical dependence in a sample of patients assisted by a psychosocial care center – alcohol and drugs (CAPS-AD) in a town located in the state of São Paulo. This study was conducted as a transversal, quantitative study, with a descriptive designing. 35 both sex over 18 years-old patients have participated of the research, who have initiated the treatment as of February to May in 2014. The instruments used have been an interview to identify the socio-demographic data and the use of drugs; Social Support Scale; questionnaire for the sorting of alcohol consumption and other substances (ASSIST) and Structured Interview of Axis I Disorders of DSM-IV(SCID) for diagnostic of depression. Non-parametric techniques have been used to compare the groups, by means of tests of Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and the precise tests of Fisher and Chi-square test. The statistical significance was of p<0, 05. Most participants were male (68,75%), married (48,57%), unemployed (65,71%), with low income (67,71%), low level of schooling (65,72%) and average age of 38 years old (DP=11,58). It could be observed that 88,57% of the participants were multiple drugs users and 60% of the patients had already undertaken treatments before. The most used drug was the alcohol (94,29%), followed by the tobacco (74,29%), cocaine/crack (60%), marijuana (45,71%). It was observed in the social support perception estimation that a great part of the subjects have presented high levels of support (average 74,80), evidencing that the perception of support were preserved. It has presented depression 51,43% of the participants, among women the frequency have been of 81,8%. The results of the social support comparison have shown that the individuals who have not attended self-groups have presented a significantly larger percentage of positive social interaction from those who have attended (p=0,05), they have also presented significantly larger average scores of affective support (p=0,01) and emotional support (p=0,04) the participants who have not resided by themselves and the participants with depression presented worse perception of material support (p-0,04). A total of 12 (34%) participants have joined the treatment, however there hasn’t been found association statically significant between accession and depression, marital status, schooling, labor situation, economical classification, previous treatments, participation in self-group, frequency in artistic/physical activity, multiple drug users, alone resident and state of health. Key-words: chemical dependence; treatment accession; depressive disorder; social support.
