Resumo: This article intends to understand how the selectivity of the criminal justice system acts towards controlling the compositions of the rap musical genre. In order to achieve this, the present work was based upon Critical Criminology, in which crime is unevenly distributed according to the hierarchy of interests fixed in the socioeconomic system and according to social inequality between individuals. After considering the birth of rap music in the United States, from the 70s to the 90s, as well as its development in Brazil between the 80s and 2000s, it was identified that rappers were given the status of delinquent due to the social class and ethnicity components that characterize them. Consequently, these were the main actors that were persecuted by the state control agencies.

Consequently, these were the main actors that were persecuted by the state control agencies.O presente artigo tem por finalidade compreender como a seletividade do sistema de justiça criminal atua no controle das composições do gênero musical rap. Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal2020-12-16info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionDouble blind peer reviewAvaliado pelos paresapplication/pdfhttp://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/revista/index.php/revista/article/view/9810.29327/2193997.2.3-7Journal of Brazilian Federal District Public Defensorship; Vol 2 No 3 (2020): Criminology and law; 79-101Revista da Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal; v. 2 n. 3 (2020): Criminologia e direito; 79-1012674-57552674-5739reponame:Revista da Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal (Online)instname:Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal (DPDF)instacron:DPDFporhttp://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/revista/index.php/revista/article/view/98/67http://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/revista/index.php/revista/article/view/98/211http://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/revista/index.php/revista/article/view/98/212Brazil, 2020Brasil, 2020Copyright (c) 2020 Andressa Loli Bazo, Renata Silva Souzahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessBazo, Andressa LoliSouza, Renata Silva2023-03-30T17:05:35Zoai:ojs2.localhost:article/98Revistahttp://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/PUBhttp://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/revista/index.php/revista/oairevista@defensoria.df.gov.br||2674-57552674-5739opendoar:2023-03-30T17:05:35Revista da Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal (Online) - Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal (DPDF)false
