Resumo: The 21st century can be considered the century of the rise of populism, a political and social phenomenon that destroys democractic institutions and systems in the name of political power. In this Regard, in 2020, one of the most important theorists of democracy, Pierre Rosanvallon, published the work The Century of Populism with the aim of understanding, in a complex and systemic way, the characteristics and risks of populist leaders. Thus, from a deep vision that goes through a sociological, historical, and critical look, the theory presented in this book is linked to democratic indeterminacy, that is, the idea that democracy has paradoxes and ambiguities, opening spaces for populism to be born within itself.

In this Regard, in 2020, one of the most important theorists of democracy, Pierre Rosanvallon, published the work The Century of Populism with the aim of understanding, in a complex and systemic way, the characteristics and risks of populist leaders. Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal2023-11-14info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionDouble blind peer review; peer-reviewed articleAvaliado pelos paresapplication/pdfhttp://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/revista/index.php/revista/article/view/20410.29327/2193997.5.2-10Journal of Brazilian Federal District Public Defensorship; Vol 5 No 2 (2023): Regular issue; 177-187Revista da Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal; v. 5 n. 2 (2023): Edição regular; 177-1872674-57552674-573910.29327/2193997.5.2reponame:Revista da Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal (Online)instname:Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal (DPDF)instacron:DPDFporhttp://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/revista/index.php/revista/article/view/204/319Brazil, 2023Brasil, 2023Copyright (c) 2023 Gabriela Felden Scheuermann, Noli Bernardo Hahnhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFelden Scheuermann, GabrielaBernardo Hahn, Noli2023-11-15T18:17:18Zoai:ojs2.localhost:article/204Revistahttp://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/PUBhttp://revista.defensoria.df.gov.br/revista/index.php/revista/oairevista@defensoria.df.gov.br||2674-57552674-5739opendoar:2023-11-15T18:17:18Revista da Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal (Online) - Defensoria Pública do Distrito Federal (DPDF)false
