Reflections of the pandemic on the 2030 agenda: the academic library as an essential instrument in meeting the goals

Resumo: The main objective of this article is to reflect the impact of the pandemic caused by COVID-19 on the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda, having university libraries as essential for the goals established by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved. In methodological terms, the research is characterized as bibliographic, exploratory, and descriptive. It presents, in the scenario of social isolation, the expansion of technological mediation as an important tool for the continuity of work and teaching that collaborated with access to information and the production of scientific knowledge. It contextualizes the goals of the 2030 Agenda in particular, SDG 4: quality education, in the face of the challenges posed by the pandemic, understanding that this objective is directly related to universities and university libraries. It presents a timeline between the Millennium Goals and the 2030 Agenda, the public policies implemented throughout the 2000s, which reflect on the changing profile of students at public universities. They present data on the results obtained for the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda in the educational field. Finally, it points out that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the goals established by the 2030 Agenda are not on the way to being achieved, showing that university libraries are instruments that contribute to reducing the existing inequality among students, as they promote inclusion, equality, independence, and autonomy of users’ items that corroborate to achieve the goals of SDG 4 of Agenda 2030.

En términos metodológicos, la investigación se caracteriza por ser bibliográfica, exploratoria y descriptiva. Presenta, en el escenario de aislamiento social, la expansión de la mediación tecnológica como una herramienta importante para la continuidad del trabajo y la enseñanza que colaboró ​​con el acceso a la información y la producción de conocimiento científico. Contextualiza las metas de la Agenda 2030, en particular, el ODS 4: educación de calidad, ante los desafíos que plantea la pandemia, entendiendo que este objetivo está directamente relacionado con las universidades y las bibliotecas universitarias. Presenta una línea de tiempo entre los Objetivos del Milenio y la Agenda 2030, las políticas públicas implementadas a lo largo de la Década de 2000, que reflexionan sobre el cambio de perfil de los estudiantes de las universidades públicas. Presentan datos sobre los resultados obtenidos para el cumplimiento de la Agenda 2030 en el ámbito educativo. Finalmente, señala que, debido a la pandemia del COVID-19, las metas establecidas por la Agenda 2030 no van camino de alcanzarse, demostrando que las bibliotecas universitarias son instrumentos que contribuyen a reducir la desigualdad existente entre los estudiantes, ya que promueven la inclusión, igualdad, independencia y autonomía de los usuarios elementos que corroboren el logro de las metas del ODS 4 de la Agenda 2030.O presente artigo tem como objetivo principal refletir o impacto da pandemia provocada pela COVID-19 no cumprimento da Agenda 2030 tendo as bibliotecas universitárias como essenciais para que as metas estabelecidas pelos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) sejam atingidas. Em termos metodológicos, a pesquisa se caracteriza como bibliográfica, de caráter exploratório e descritivo. Apresenta no cenário de isolamento social a ampliação da mediação tecnológica como ferramenta importante para continuidade de trabalho e de ensino que colaboraram com o acesso à informação e com a produção do conhecimento científico. Contextualiza as metas da Agenda 2030, em especial, o ODS 4: educação de qualidade, diante dos desafios impostos pela pandemia, compreendendo que este objetivo tem relação direta com as universidades e com as bibliotecas universitárias. Apresenta uma linha do tempo entre as Metas do Milênio e a Agenda 2030, as políticas públicas implementadas ao longo dos anos 2000, que refletem na mudança do perfil dos alunos das universidades públicas. Expõem dados sobre os resultados obtidos para o cumprimento da Agenda 2030 no campo educacional.
