In Brazil, the teaching of librarianship as explained by Souza (1987, p.138) has three phases: the first period runs from 1911 to 1930, with humanistic characteristics and under the leadership of the National Library, the second the period from 1929 to 1970, under strong influence of American technicality, and the third period from 1970 to 1987, with a more nationalistic. The course of the UFC Cariri Library was established in 2006 with the objective of investing in the training of a professional librarian and able to act before the information society. This paper aims to present the first four years of the course, thus promoting a discussion among the benchmarks of education, professional ethics and the proposed training, coupled with the marketing demands. We used the literature and analysis of payment curriculum.
