Resumo: | The theoretical framework of a study that aims to trace the main attributes of the role of the librarian in the open access scenario in Latin America is here described, with the further aim of gauging the repercussions of the increasing predominance of the digital landscape on the training and education of these professionals. In a later empirical stage, the aim is to identify the perceptions of librarians - initially in Brazil - both in relation to the required professional attributes for these roles and in their assessment of the relevance of their professional education in preparation for such roles. The premise of the study is that, due to their accumulated know-how in the technical, ethical and legal dimensions of information work, librarians will assume the leadership of projects in the digital repository arena. |

En una etapa empírica posterior, el objetivo del estudio será identificar las percepciones de los bibliotecarios, inicialmente en Brasil, tanto en relación con los atributos profesionales requeridos por estos roles como su evaluación de la formación profesional como preparación para tales roles. La premisa principal del estudio es que, debido a su conocimiento acumulado en las dimensiones técnicas, éticas y legales del trabajo informacional, los bibliotecarios asumirán el liderazgo de proyectos en el ámbito de los repositorios digitales.O referencial teórico de um estudo que visa levantar os principais atributos do papel do bibliotecário no cenário de acesso aberto na América Latina é descrito, com outro objetivo de aferir as repercussões da crescente predominância da paisagem digital na estruturação da formação destes profissionais. Numa posterior etapa empírica, o objetivo do estudo será o de identificar as percepções de bibliotecários – inicialmente no Brasil – tanto em relação aos atributos profissionais requeridos por estes papeis quanto a sua avaliação da formação profissional como preparativo por tais papeis.
