Dialogues on university social responsibility, research and its social impact

This paper aims at analyzing the elements that are immersed in the university spaces so that the investigation has a social connection and repercussion. Therefore, a dialogue is established between the position of university social responsibility (VALLAEYS, 2014) and transdisciplinarity as a key element for the formulation of social impact research (GIBBONS et al, 1998). With the intention of widening the spectrum of the impact of external factors (public policies, economic schemes, prevailing educational models), and internal factors (management models, hierarchical structures, cultural capital), a qualitative investigation is carried out through a causal exploration method to explain some elements inherent to the social university environment. The results show how the influence of the aforementioned factors affects university interaction spaces and their social responsibility.
