Research and the Production of Teaching Knowledge in Higher Education: what do teachers’ narratives reveal to us?

Resumo: In courses that prepare the teacher to work in higher education, there is not enough room for teaching knowledge. Through teachers’ narratives, this article aims at understanding the role of research in the production of teaching knowledge in higher education. The specific objectives include to conceptualize teaching knowledge, to identify the characteristics of teaching knowledge, to conceptualize research, and to identify the characteristics of research. The methodology adopted is qualitative. To collect theoretical data, we used bibliographic research according to Severino (2007). To collect the empirical data, we used the narrative interview according to the guidelines provided by Jovchelovitch and Bauer (2012). For the analysis of the data from the narratives, we relied on content analysis as proposed by Bardin (2011). The results show that research is one of the main ways of producing this knowledge in higher education. Keywords: teaching knowledge, higher education, research, narratives.

Este artigo tem, como objetivo geral, compreender, por meio das narrativas docentes, o papel da pesquisa no que concerne à produção dos saberes pedagógicos no ensino superior. Como objetivos específicos, propõe conceituar saberes pedagógicos, identificar as características dos saberes pedagógicos, conceituar pesquisa e identificar as características da pesquisa. A metodologia adotada é a qualitativa. Para coleta dos dados teóricos utilizamos a pesquisa bibliográfica conforme Severino (2007). Para coleta dos dados empíricos, fizemos uso da entrevista narrativa, conforme as orientações fornecidas por Jovchelovitch e Bauer (2012). Para análise dos dados oriundos das narrativas nos amparamos na proposta de Análise de Conteúdo desenvolvida por Bardin (2011). Os resultados apontam que a pesquisa é uma das principais vias de produção desses saberes no ensino superior. Palavras-chave: Saberes pedagógicos. Ensino superior. Pesquisa.
