Resumo: | The efficiency of dispersers on granulometric analysis was studied using nine different soil materials having argillic horizon. Sodium hydroxide, sodium hexametaphosphate, and sodium hexametaphosphate + sodium carbonate were utilized as chemical dispersers, using slow and fast shaking, in the presence and absence of abrasive agent. The dispersers efficiency was evaluated through the clay percentage which was determined by pipette and hydrometter methods. The data revealed that the presence of coarse sand as abrasive agent upon desaggregation was efficient, as well as the slow shaking, mainly when associated with the abrasive agent. The pipette method was more efficient than the hidrometter in terms of clay determination. The sodium hydroxide and sodium hexametaphosphate had similar action for these soil materials. |

A eficiência de dispersantes na análise granulométrica foi estudada em nove diferentes materiais de solos com horizonte B textural. Foram utilizados, o hidróxido de sódio, hexametafosfato de sódio e hexametafosfato de sódio + carbonato de sódio como dispersantes químicos, com agitações rápida e lenta, na presença e ausência de agente abrasivo. A eficiência dos dispersantes foi avaliada através da percentagem de argila, que foi determinada pelos métodos da pipeta e do hidrômetro. Os resultados evidenciaram que a presença de areia grossa como agente abrasivo na desagregação mostrou-se eficiente, como também a agitação lenta, principalmente quando associada com o agente abrasivo. Dos métodos utilizados na determinação de argila, o da pipeta foi o que apresentou maior eficiência. O hidróxido de sódio e o hexametafosfato de sódio tiveram ação dispersante semelhante para esses pedomateriais.
