Resumo: Studies were conducted at Queimadas, PB, Brazil, in the 1986 and 1987 cotton seasons, in order to determinate the effects of upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. race lanfolium Hutch.) interplanted with corn (Zea mays L.), and pyrethroids against the cotton boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis. The experirnent was a complete factorial in a randomized-complete block. Four factors were tested in two systems: (S1) Solid cotton: (F1) Cypermethrin ED, at 7.81g/ha, with one row treated per step, (F2) Cypermethrin ED, at 3.91 g/ha, with two rows treated per step, (F3) Deltamethrin EC, at 10.00 g/ha, and (F4)control (nothing was applied), and (S2) Cotton interplanted with com: (F1) Cypermethrin ED, at 4.64 g/ha, with one row treated per step, (F2) Cypermethrin ED, at 2.33 g/ha, with two rows treated per step, (F3) Deltamethrin EC, at 5.96 g/ha, and (F4) control (nothing was applied). The results showed that: (1) Cypermethrin ED e Deltamethrin EC in the tested dosages were efficient against A. grandis, (2) the efficiency of Cypermethrin ED and Deltamethrin EC in the tested dosages against A. grandis was not affected by the planting system and (3) cotton interplanted with corn did not affect the boll weevil population
