Determination of hosts of fusarium moniliforme var. subglutinans of pineapple

Resumo: The behaviour of fusarium isolates from maize, pineapple, srghum, sugarcane and millet was studied as related to their pathogenicity to pineapple slips and fruits as well as to maize and sugarcane. The isolates from maize, sorghum, sugarcane and millet were not pathogenic to pineapple slips and fruits, and it was not possible the re-isolation of the pathogen four months after the inoculation, except for the pineapple Fusarium, which was isolated from the inoculated slips and fruits. Howeve, when the Fusarium moniliforme and Fusarium moniliforme var. subglutinans were inoculated insugarcane Stalk the pathogens were re-isolated. The results showed that all isolates were capable of causing rot in sugarcane stalk, and maize grains and stalk significantly. It became evident that             F. moniliforme var. subglutinans from pineapple can survive in maize and sugarcane, and that F. moniliforme from sorghum, maize, millet and sugarcane were not pathogenic to pineapple, under this reported trial conditions.

It became evident that F. moniliforme var. subglutinans from pineapple can survive in maize and sugarcane, and that F. moniliforme from sorghum, maize, millet and sugarcane were not pathogenic to pineapple, under this reported trial conditions.Estudou-se o comportamento de isolados de Fasarium provenientes do milho, abacaxi, sorgo, cana-de-açúcar e milheto, quanto à sua patogenicidade a mudas e frutos do abacaxizeiro, bem como ao milho e cana-de-açúcar. Verificou-se que os isolados do fungo provenientes das culturas do milho, sorgo, cana-de-açúcar e milheto não foram patogénicos às mudas e frutos do abacaxizeiro; tampouco foi possível o reisolamento do patógeno, quatro meses após a inoculação, à exceção do Fusarium do abacaxizeiro, que foi isolado das mudas e frutas inoculadas. Contudo, quando se inoculou Fusarium moniliforme e Fusarium moniliforme var, subglutinans em colmo de cana-de-açúcar, colmo e espiga de milho, foi possível o reisolamento dos patógenos. Os resultados mostram que todos os isolados foram capazes de causar podridão no colmo de cana-de-açúcar, como de milho e espiga (grão) em níveis significativos.
