The composition of Brazilian soybean oil. I. Varieties from Goiás

Resumo: The fatty acid composition, as determined by gas cromatography, was investigated on 20 samples of 14 different soybean varieties grow in Goiás, during 71/72. This composition was related to iodine value. The agronomic data as well as the number of experiments were not enough for allowing an interpretation of the results. The lowest linolenic acid content, 4.54%, was observed for IAC - 2 variety, from Rubiataba. As an average we got the following percentages for the five major components: palmitic acid 12.42, stearic acid 3.56, oleic acid 26.58, linoleic acid 51.68 and linoleic acid 5.73%.
